Behind the Scenes

What is SEIPH

SEIPH stands for Students Engaged in Public Health.  It is the student organization for Public Health Science majors at the University of Maryland, College Park.  Bi-weekly meetings are held to discuss the most prominent public health issues particularly in Prince George's County and complete activities related to the topic that make a positive difference in our community.  It's a great way to get involved in the community, conncet with fellow students in the public health science major, and build your resume!


Purposes of SEIPH


General Purpose

  • Build a community among Public Health Science students

  • Serve the community through public health outreach and activities

  • Provide networking opportunities to members

  • Develop leadership and management skills


Specific Purposes

  • To increase visibility of Public Health Science program

  • To interact with other campus groups 

  • To interact with faculty and administration

  • To provide an outlet for members' specific passions or concerns

  • to build a support network for members through friendship and mentoring
